Are you a children’s magician/kids entertainer who wants to learn more brilliant tips about how to make it super fun for mixed ages and grown-ups too? Or do you want to get into the business? I have learned so much about this fantastic business from doing thousands of magic shows over the last ten years at birthday parties, family events, shopping centres, schools, and all sorts of other events. As well as before that for 15 years as a musician and circus contortionist in cabaret, TV, and in movies such as Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
I have learned the long and hard road of trying what works and what doesn’t. What will make a show and what will ruin it. How to engage adults to be part of the show.
I offer online or in-person sessions (Mon-Thu in central London, South London, and East Surrey) and offer lectures for magic clubs.
Had a brilliant time doing magic for the excited little ones waiting to meet Santa this December. There was such a great vibe at Westfield. From the staff from the events team to the security, to the food outlets, who kept me caffeinated and fed were all super nice.
So many 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th birthday parties, and family events. Thank you so much to all who booked me in 2022 and for 2023. Can’t wait for the year ahead. Always working hard on the show and learning new tricks, writing jokes. If you have any pics from the parties, please send to me on WhatsApp at 07791868973 or email them to me ritchie.rosson@gmail.com
Had a brilliant time doing a magic show at the beautiful Roehampton Club The 5th year I have done a show there. Thank you to the awesome Jack Ducey photography for the pics.
Having a children’s magician for your child’s birthday party is a brilliant idea ** particularly for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7, 8th birthday parties.
“She doesn’t know you are coming!” I have entertained at over 800 children’s birthday parties, half of those in people’s lovely homes, and have always had a cold reception from a birthday child whose family has made my visit a surprise. One 6-year-old girl actually handed me a note as I was setting up saying “STOOPID MAGICIAN!” Another friend of the birthday child at a party where I was a surprise, on arrival burst into tears saying “I hate magicians!” Both of these girls ended up having a great time in the show but it made breaking the ice tougher.
On the flip side, when kids know me from other shows or they’ve seen pics/videos of me, they feel excited to meet me and be less shy. The other children will also be less shy when they know the magician. Good to share pics/videos of your magician in parents’ Whatsapp groups to the other children’s parents.
**Always check their online reviews and watch a video of the party entertainer/magician. Some magicians are great with close-up magic for adults but hopeless in a room of 30 children. Some entertainment agencies quickly train up out-of-work actors to do kids’ parties and they know a handful of simple tricks and are not experienced enough to give a great show and manage the party. The best are always busy so book 4-5 months ahead.
I’m back BABY! Bring the kids to see my magic shows at the awesome Halloween event at The Swan Centre in Leatherhead. It’s the 8th year I’ve performed there (is this right Miranda? I’ve lost count #adhd).
Halloween Magic Shows in Leatherhead 2022
It’s always always a brilliant day. One of my favourite events to perform at. Such a great atmosphere and lots going on for kids. Follow The Swan Centre here on Facebook to keep up with the great events they have on there.
I perform at lots of events. Want to know where I am going to be? Join my email list here. You definitely won’t be spammed. I only send an email about every 3 months.
My weekend birthday party time spots are 11-1 (or earlier) and 3-5 (or later). All the top children’s entertainers that I know, do the same-day split. I’m afraid that I cannot do times outside of these time spots like 12-2 or 2-4 or even 2.30 start. It throws off my timings, and means I can only do 1 party that day.
I am a full-time professional entertainer, doing magic shows at schools, family events, and mostly fantastic, fun, children’s birthday parties. I work all week long on my shows; editing music, learning new tricks, practicing the show plus all the admin side.
Weekday bookings are infrequent. It doesn’t always happen, but I try to get two kids’ party bookings on each weekend day. I arrive 45 minutes early to my parties; fresh and full of energy with time to set up and pack down. I also don’t want to be running out of the door at the end of the party. If I have time, I like to do some close-up magic for the kids as they are leaving. For these reasons, I need to stick strictly to these time spots.
If for this reason, you have your party times fixed and cannot book me this time. Do keep me in mind for future events. Try to book me 3-4 months ahead to make sure I’m free.
Midweek, I can do parties any time and I have a bargain midweek magic show for £170 and a no-frills 45-minute magic show for less than 10 children for £120 (Mon-Thu). (40-minute drive from SM25TL. For further afield, please enquire).

Top tip for your party booking times. Get into the venue at least an hour before to set up. 30 minutes to get in can be a bit of a rush and stressful. If you can get a bit more time from the venue to get in earlier that’s great. If not, bring a few friends and family members to help to set up the chairs and tables, etc. I have lots more party tips here.
