Bunting VS Balloons

If you have a children’s birthday party with no entertainment, a few balloons to play with will definitely keep the little ones having fun for 5 minutes. We professional children’s entertainers ask for balloons to be tied to the walls or to not have them at all as the secret to entertaining children is having their attention. And a balloon flying around is the end of that.

I am still using a few of them in my show for a funny routine making a balloon octopus but balloons are also nasty for the environment and you can only use them for one of your parties. The answer……………BUNTING BABY! Bunting is awesome. It looks super cute and you can use it again and again and lend it to friends/families for their parties. And it’s really quick to put up and take down at parties unlike balloons that take a lot of puff and often explode through the party at the volume of a shotgun going off.

Bunting for children’s birthday parties is awesome!

Honeycomb decorations are also really pretty and reusable.

Magic of the Linking Rings

Love playing with these in my magic shows. I had time during the lockdowns to learn lots of new magic. I learnt a lot from the wonderful magician Jeff McBride’s tapes on the subject from the 1980s(?) and the brilliant Levent’s 3 dvd set where he goes into incredible detail about the history of how they have been performed and the techniques used to amuse.

Timer to get more work done

Forget saying ‘I will work all day!’ We need focused chunks of time in flow. Ignore your phone and GO! I loved using my sand timers. I have a 15, 30 and 60 minute sand timer. Great just to flip it and BOOM I’m working and I know there is a delicious break ahead of me.

The pomodoro technique works on this principle; 25 minutes of focused work and then a 5 minute break. It’s a wonderful system. 25 minutes is easy to achieve but a good time to get some hard work done. I love this Pihen timer on Amazon. Just tip it onto a 25 minute time and then flip to 5 for a proud break. I’m going to order a second one I like them that much.

This set of sand timers are also great.
