Video Vlog

Rude comments and lovely postman. Aw, what a joy it is to get a knock at the door and be greeted by my lovely beaming smiled postman Simon. Was so happy to get a bit of him into my video vlog I made a few months ago in more innocent times.

I got a great comment on another video that I responded to in this video. It’s funny that now I am kind of hoping for horrible comments so I can use them for laughs.

Missing the Magic

My magic career was going great before the lock-down. It’s a funny time to be a magician/entertainer. Should I work on new magic and writing for my shows? Or will what I work on now go stale before parties start up again? For now I am working more on getting very fit and doing my comedy YouTube videos. I can’t wait to get out there and have fun and play with a room full of fun loving families.

Bought Some Gymnastic Rings

WOW! I love them. Amazing to be outdoors working out in this recent glorious weather in UK but for those of you who like to do strong workouts you’ll know that the floor is a bit tricky to do pulling workouts so I bought some gymanstic rings and made a funny video about them.

Gymnastic rings YouTube video

I had seen guys putting up rings in parks before and always they were ostentatious freaks which yes is rich coming from me who hangs about in parks putting my legs behind my head, twisting balloons and whatever else bat crazy pursuit I am digging this week.

I love the rings! They are hitting so many muscles I have never felt before. I have done three workouts on them so far and I am getting good sets in. Dips are something I can do quite a lot of on chairs, bars, etc but on the rings….WOWZA! I managed 3 sets of 1 rep of dips on the rings today. It’s a killer but beautifully so. Can’t wait to get back on them in a few days.

Keep Smiling (Music Video)

Keep smiling Ritchie! ““Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, and sometimes your smile is the source of your joy.” Thich Nhat Hanh

I really had to take this attitude throughout this grim time. I was blessed to have a lovely wife with the same outlook. I also cleaned up my diet and started working out near daily. And we were so lucky to have great weather in London in April. How was it where you were?

New YouTube videos

Getting back in to YouTube in a big way. A lot of children’s entertainers I know are doing online shows and offering online party entertainment. I frankly think this is a terrible idea. For a family to go from Watching the greatest movies ever made through their laptop to Terrific Tony make a ball disapear and cutting a rope through and charging for it to me seems below par.

But I did want to do more of my daft comedy videos and vlogs. I had a great time doing this little one with my lovely wife. Enjoy.

Ages Editing This New Promo Video

I spent about 30 hours editing this! OK that might in part be because I was learning to use Adobe Premiere Pro. Wow, this software is so amazing! It was such a pleasure to play around with it. If you are a performer of any kind, I recommend very much to watch videos of your shows. It is very revealing and is helping me a lot to see the good things I do and the annoying habits that need to be dropped like laughing at my own jokes.

Summer Shows

Oh I had a great time at Swan Shopping Centre in Leatherhead last Monday and made this vlog of the day. I’m not always this good and organised but I was on a mission this week and I got in the gym before the shows and at the end of the day I was absolutely shattered but with a big smile on my face for the lovely people I met at those shows and the happy kids I met.

I popped along to Sutton high street yesterday to see their Sutton Beach event. Frankly it all looked a bit chaotic. Loads of adults packed together on deck chairs looking miserable and loads of kids in a pile of sand. I am sorry to blow my own trumpet but in the same space they could have booked me to do magic shows and the kids would have been mich happier, barking with laughter, no mess to deal with and the grown ups would have enjoted the shows too.

Hope you liked the vlog. I am going to be making more videos. I have a lot filmed already that I need to edit. Subscrube to my channel if you like that kind of daft fun.

Stand-Up Comedy

Woah! I did my first stand up comedy gig last night at the awesome Comedy Virgins at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell. I had been secretly studying and writing stand-up comedy the last few months to work towards my first 5 minutes on a stage without any balloons, magic tricks or a giggle-ready bunch of 5-year-olds in front of me.

Ritchie's first stand up comedy night.

I didn’t quite have the whole room barking with laughter but then I did get some laughs.  So I think it was a success. It surprised me that the whole room cheered at the mention of “stationary” but that a stoic silence was met with my talk of “a rubber fist”.

They have a random order of comics on the night meaning everytime the compere calls for “a big to cheer to welcome to the stage…..” every act of the night puts down their drink ready to march to the stage. This was nice for me as I was the 43rd act of 45 on the night.

The very funny and lovely man Adrian Tauss was compereing. We briefly danced as I went on stage I seem to remember and as my five minutes ended I tightly hugged Adrian like a fireman who had dug me out of an earthquake rubble.  My plan for next time is to extend the dance section to 4 minutes and drop some of the material I wrote for this set, maybe 38 of the 40 jokes.
